The final season of Jessica Jones is here, and in a new featurette, Krysten Ritter talks about stepping into the director’s chair.

Marvel’s Jessica Jones has been a show that champions women both in front and behind the camera, and the show’s final season is no exception. Not only will we get our last big adventure with this badass woman, but the actor bringing Jessica Jones to life, Krysten Ritter, is stepping behind the camera to direct.

In a new featurette released by Netflix, we get a closer look into Ritter’s experience as a director. As she explains in the featurette, Ritter’s own experiences being directed by amazing women throughout the series’ run inspired and guided her into her own directorial style.

Ritter’s directorial stint happens in episode 2, an episode that is shown in Trish’s point of view. While we love getting a few more sneak peeks into season 3 and Trish’s exciting journey into her own style of vigilante hero, we also love seeing Ritter rock the director’s chair.

Because Ritter plays Jessica Jones herself, she’s able to bring a really unique directorial flair into the episode. Not only does she understand the big picture, but she also understands the characters in a unique way that informs her directorial style. And if the words of her co-stars are any indication, Ritter does a pretty amazing job directing the episode and will bring a really cool perspective to the show.

The third season will follow Jessica as she crosses paths with, as the official synopsis says, “a highly intelligent psychopath.” She and Trish must work to repair their fractured relationship to take this new threat down, but when they suffer a devastating loss, they take their own paths that highlight their conflicting ideas of heroism.

Our final adventure with Jessica Jones and Krysten Ritter’s directorial debut will begin when the third season premieres only on Netflix on June 14.
