Though not officially announced yet in the form of a press release, two people involved with the Anchorman sequel The Journey Continues revealed tonight that actress Kristen Wiig has joined the film.
First word came from the film’s director, Adam McKay:
Just found out Kristen Wiig officially on board for Anchorman 2.Cannonball!

Then came actress Christina Applegate, who had signed onto the film in June:

It is believed Wiig will play Brick Tamland’s (Steve Carrel) wife.
The last teaser trailer for Anchorman 2 was unveiled way back in May. The film will open in theaters December 20, 2013.
Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues will take place during a major shift in mainstream news diversity (which, by the way, is NOT an old, old wooden ship) that will threaten the Action News team. As Latino and African-American anchors join the new 24-hour news format, the news team must prove that they’ll be able to adapt (or not adapt) after they realize that the times, they are a changin’.
Wiig is just the latest piece of the puzzle shaping this film up to be one very successful sequel.
