Kristen Stewart is re-teaming up with Chanel for a movie directed by Karl Lagerfeld. She’ll play an actress who is getting ready to portray the company’s iconic founder, Coco Chanel.

Chanel’s creative director Karl Lagerfeld is writing and directing a movie about the company’s founder, Coco Chanel.

WWD reports that Kristen Stewart, who can currently be seen starring opposite Jesse Eisenberg in American Ultra, will play an actress who in turn is playing Gabrielle (Coco) Chanel.

Lagerfeld’s innovative approach will give us a fictional look behind the scenes of a yet-to-be-made biopic about Coco Chanel — certainly an interesting idea, and we can’t wait to see how it pans out!

The two-day shoot was completed last month, and Lagerfeld said of Stewart’s performance, “She played it really, really mean. You only see her in tests and she’s complaining about everything. She’s mean with the director; mean with the producer.”

Stewart has done Chanel campaigns in the past, and is reportedly close with Karl Lagerfeld. Not only is she a good fit for the brand, but she actually bears a striking resemblance to a young Coco Chanel:

Lagerfeld’s movie will premiere in December, at Chanel’s annual Métiers d’Arts show in Rome.

Kristen Stewart is building up an impressive post-Twilight resumé; last year, she made history by becoming the first U.S. actress to win the prestigious French Cesar award for her role in Clouds of Sils Maria.

American Ultra premiered on August 21, and has generally been well-received.
