The Frozen star teamed up with the a cappella group to release “Text Me Merry Christmas,” a song and lyric video about long-distance relationships during the holidays.

The song was released on RyanSeacrest.com earlier today, and we’ve been humming it ever since!

Straight No Chaser initially approached Bell about the project when they decided to make the song a duet, and she was on board within hours. Straight No Chaser group member Randy Stine told Seacrest, “We wanted a Christmas song that spoke to how informal communication has become…the only voice we heard singing this was Kristen Bell and she nailed every note and delivered the lyrics with the perfect comedic tone. We were hanging on her every word … when we weren’t looking at our phones.”

It’s a Christmas jingle for the Millennials in the crowd. The song mentions the merits of other typical (and not-so-typical) forms of communication, “a Facebook message isn’t quite as sweet / I need more from @you than just a tweet / a snap on Snapchat doesn’t last / and voicemail? That’s from Christmas past.”

At one point in the song Kristen and SNC go back and forth singing “send a selfie too / if you I’ll go ‘neath the mistletoe / and pretend my screen is you.” Of course, being separated from loved ones during the holidays is never easy, but with instantaneous texting and FaceTime technology now widely available, it can be a little bit easier to stay in touch.

‘Text Me Merry Christmas’ will be available for download on iTunes at midnight tonight.

In the meantime, enjoy the animated lyric video, filled with text messages and, of course, emojis between Kristen and her Straight No Chaser beau.
