The ship that The Vampire Diaries fans affectionately know as Klaroline, made up of Klaus Mikaelson and Caroline Forbes, finally returned to us on season 7, episode 14. The reunion got us thinking about all the sweet moments the pair have shared.
Sure, Klaus has his faults, but don’t we all? It is true that the first time we saw him (and a few times since) he tried to murder his precious Caroline, but we all make mistakes. All of this aside, whether or not you believe this couple should actually be together, it’s tough to deny that they have crazy chemistry and are so fun and compelling to watch.
After more than a full season of deprivation, we have officially survived the Klaroline hiatus! The Vampire Diaries, season 7, episode 14, brought Klaus and Caroline together again, even if it was only their voices. The return of Caroline’s cautious joy and Klaus’ secret gentleness reminded us of so many wonderful past Klaroline moments.
Although it was tough to pick, we have attempted to put together a top five list of the all time greatest moments that Klaus Mikaelson and Caroline Forbes have shared together. Maybe Klaroline will be the end game ship or maybe they’ll never speak to each other again, but at least we’ll always have these five magical moments to look back on.
5. The Mikaelson ball
Klaus was attracted to Caroline before the Mikaelson family ball, but her brutal honesty with him at the event was one of the first things that made him actually fall for her. His original vampire status along with his looks and charm have basically provided him a life of getting whatever and whoever he wants. Although she reluctantly agrees to attend the ball, Caroline doesn’t fall for Klaus’ attempts to win her over, which is new for him.
Ever since this moment, Klaus desires to prove himself to Caroline and this is the beginning of the fans seeing a sweeter side of Klaus. He even shows his appreciation of Caroline’s honesty with his artistic talents!
4. To cure or not to cure
This was an important Klaroline moment since it was the first time Caroline kind of admitted to Klaus that she had some attraction to him, too. It might have been higher on the list if not for the fact that Klaus was in the process of letting her die to prove a point to Tyler.
Caroline’s words also gave a new hope to the many Klaroline shippers. She believes that “anybody who is capable of love is capable of being saved.” This could mean that she has hope of Klaus turning things around and being her hero (not that she needs one) someday, or at the very least not trying to kill her and her friends.
3. OMG Klaus is laughing
Even though Caroline was more or less forced into going on a “date” with Klaus, in this moment they truly do have fun together. As Klaus hilariously recites Caroline’s Miss Mystic application, we see the true potential of this ship. Klaus finally breaks through Caroline’s walls and we see what could be under different circumstances.
2. However long it takes
An extremely rare, but true selfless moment for Klaus was when, as a graduation gift to Caroline, he let her true love (at the time) Tyler return home to her. Before you count Klaroline out for good, remember this moment. Klaus does tend to get what he wants and he’s made it pretty clear that in the end he wants it to be him and Caroline against the world.
Yes, Caroline is very in love with Stefan Salvatore right now, but she’s been in love with others in the past as well. In fact, we already know that something has come between Caroline and Stefan in three years’ time, so anything is possible!
To be honest, this moment was so sweet that it almost took the number one spot, but…
1. Caroline’s confession
Surprising nobody, this takes number one! In exchange for Klaus leaving forever, Caroline admits that in the darkest parts of herself, she wants him just as much as he wants her. As we mentioned before, even if you loathe the idea of these two actually being together, it’s tough to ignore this heat!
