A new trailer for Kingsman: The Secret Service has just been released, and the movie looks fantastic.

When Kingsman: A Secret Service got delayed from its original October 24 release date and bumped all the way February 13 next year (the same date as Fifty Shades of Grey), we have to say we were a little devastated. The movie looked to be a surefire sleeper hit for the fall, and our anticipation of it couldn’t have been higher.

Thankfully, we have little reason to believe it was delayed for quality reasons. All four of the movies directed by Matthew Vaughn to this point in his career have been well received critically, and there are no signs that Kingsman: The Secret Service would suddenly be a huge misstep for Vaughn. After Layer Cake, Stardust, Kick-Ass, and X-Men: First Class, Vaughn has set a high bar for himself.

Kingsman: The Secret Service is another comic book adaptation for Vaughn (who adapted the screenplay with writing partner Jane Goldman), this one coming from a comic of the same name from Mark Millar, the author of Kick-Ass. The comic tells the story of a secret agent who takes his nephew under his wing and brings him into the spy organization that he works for. The movie seems to follow the same generic plot, though it appears that the young apprentice is no longer related to the senior agent. Both comic book and film are meant to channel the James Bond series.

Colin Firth stars as the elder secret agent, and as far as trailers go, he has a lot of room to show just how much ass he can kick. Quite a bit of the trailer is devoted to the scene where he beats people up in a pub, and it’s deserved as the scene does a great job selling Firth as an action star as well as showing off some of his cool gadgets.

The trailer also features some funny quips from a badass looking Samuel L. Jackson, some cool sounding moments from Michael Caine and returning Vaughn actor Mark Strong, and just enough Taron Egerton as the kid who gets taken into the spy organization.

All in all we’re very impressed with the trailer. The first trailer showed off some of Vaughn’s visual stylistic moments that will likely make the film great to look at, and now this trailer shows that they’re figuring out how to market it. That’s likely the reason for the delay after the film didn’t make a huge splash at Comic-Con, and it looks like that’s finally on track as it should be.

This is looking more and more like a movie you won’t want to miss when it is finally released next year. February is a typically bleak month for new movie releases, but between Kingsman: A Secret Service, Jupiter Ascending (another bump back), The Gunman, Hitman: Agent 47, and Jane Got a Gun, February 2015 is looking to be a month loaded with potential.
