Black Panther’s Erik Killmonger is about to take center stage on the page.

There was much to love about this year’s critically acclaimed superhero flick Black Panther and while it’s hard to pick a favorite character, there’s no denying many moviegoers walked away from the film with a bit of a soft spot for the flick’s big bad.

Now, fans thirsting for more will soon be able to turn to a new series of comic books looking to shed even more light on Black Panther’s biggest foe.

In a new post featured on their website Marvel revealed that Erik Killmonger will soon be featured in his own mini series.

Titled Killmonger, the five-part comic book series is being written by Bryan Edward Hill and illustrated by artist Juan Ferreyra.

In a new interview with Vulture Hill revealed that like many he’s always found himself intrigued by the things that lead the character onto a path of vengeance.

“I wanted to explore the choices and the failures that lead a person to dedicate their life to revenge, and how that happens,” said Hill. “Because with Erik, I feel like it’s really a tragedy. It’s a story of a guy who was failed a lot by Wakanda in certain ways, by the people he met outside of Wakanda, by his own conscience in other ways, and I wanted to paint a portrait of that.”

In addition, the writer also teased what we can expect from the first installment of the series, saying it kicks off with Killmonger finding himself at a fork in the road after graduating from MIT.

“We begin the story with him making that choice to step away from one potential future and step into another that speaks to more of his darker nature,” said Hill.

We’re sure fans of the longtime Marvel villain will be excited to learn about his history from his own perspective.

Bryan Edward Hill and Juan Ferreyra’s first installment of the series, KILLMONGER #1, will be on sale beginning Wednesday, December 5.
