Well ahead of its October debut, the first Kill Your Darlings teaser trailer has been released and features Dan Radcliffe and Dane DeHaan.

The two actors play poets during the beat generation and end up falling for one another (Yep. Radcliffe’s first gay movie role). Radcliffe plays Allen Ginsberg and DeHaan plays Lucien Carr.

The preview feels a little short – perhaps because it’s only a part of the full trailer. When a long version is released, we’ll be sure to share it with you.

As seen in the trailer, Kill Your Darlings co-stars Michael C. Hall, Ben Foster, Jack Huston, Elizabeth Olsen, and Jennifer Jason Leigh.

The film screened at Sundance in January of this year and received rave reviews. Afterwards, Sony Classics purchased distribution rights and pegged it for a fall 2013 release. It will first open in limited cities before going wider by the end of the year.

“Ginsberg, Kerouac, Burroughs: iconic names today, and figureheads of a movement that rewrote all the rules for American literature and laid the grounds for a sea change in popular culture. Who were they, though, before their apotheois? Just kids,” reads the official synopsis. “In 1944, Allen Ginsberg was an uptight, strait-laced freshman at Columbia University. Jack Kerouac was a listless college student, back in school after lasting only a week in the navy. William S. Burroughs had dropped out of medical school and into a drug habit, and was just eking out a living on the fringes of New York´s bohemien scene. Unquestionably, Daniel Radcliffe´s real breakout role.”

To quote the YouTube comments: “So this is the movie where Harry hooks up with Draco?”
