Quentin Tarantino has been promising to release Kill Bill: The Whole Bloody Affair for years, and it might finally happen next year.

As we told you earlier, Tarantino held a question and answer session at Comic Con’s Dynamite Entertainment panel to discuss the upcoming comic that will crossover his Django character from Django Unchained and Zorro (a comic we’re very much eager to see).

At this panel, Tarantino finally confirmed that he would be making The Hateful Eight after much very public back and forth.

Another quote has now come out from the panel that is very exciting. Tarantino has long talked about releasing Kill Bill: The Whole Bloody Affair, or Kill Bill as he had intended it before it was ultimately split into two different movies. Apart from select, one time only screenings, most of the world has not been able to see this cut of the movie. It looks like that might be changing very soon.

“What’s going on with that is originally back when Kill Bill was going to be one movie, I wrote an even longer anime sequence,” Tarantino said. “So you see in the movie [O-Ren] kill her boss but then there was that long hair guy… The big sequence was her fighting that guy. I.G. [The Japanese Anime Studio] who did Ghost in the Shell said we can’t do that and finish it in time for your thing. And [plus] you can’t have a thirty-minute piece in your movie.

“I said okay. It was my favorite part but it was the part you could drop. So we dropped it and then later when I.G. heard we were talking about doing Kill Bill: The Whole Bloody Affair — they still had the script so without even being commissioned, they just did it and paid for it themselves. It’s really terrific. Anyway, The Weinstein Company and myself were talking about actually coming out with it sometime, not before the year is out, but within the next year with limited theatrical engagement as well.”

We don’t know how limited this release would be, but we certainly hope it will lead to being released on DVD and Blu-ray. We’ve been waiting a very long time to see Kill Bill: The Whole Bloody Affair, and this is very good news.

Would you go see ‘Kill Bill: The Whole Bloody Affair’ in theaters?
