The cast of 2010’s critically acclaimed Kick-Ass are currently in negotiations to return for a planned sequel, and are reportedly very close to reaching a deal!

This news follows months of doubt amongst fans, with the film’s fate being feared for after director Matthew Vaughn signed on to direct an X-Men First Class sequel. However, Universal announced that Vaughn had hand-picked Jeff Wadlow to take over the reigns of the comic book adaptation. Wadlow stated recently that he intended to beef up Hit Girl’s role in Kick-Ass 2 after the character became a fan favourite.

Deadline is reporting that studio Universal is currently in talks with Aaron Johnson, Chloe Moretz and Christopher Mintz-Plasse amongst others to secure the full principal cast. All three are said to be “nearly done” with their deals, and Nicholas Cage also seems keen to return in a cameo capacity – despite being killed off in the tense climax of the first entry.

Would you like to see the main cast back, or were you hoping some of the roles would be recast?
