The Kick-Ass 2 red-band trailer has finally come online, and even though Matthew Vaughn isn’t coming back to direct, helmer Jeff Wadlow’s (Cry Wolf) vision looks nearly identical to what made us fall in love with Kick-Ass back in 2010.

It may be a little too early to tell, but the return of Chloë Grace Moretz as Hit-Girl and Aaron Taylor-Johnson as Kick-Ass seem to indicate that the Kick-Ass sequel may very well be…you know…kick-ass. The red-band trailer below is the first extended look that we’ve gotten of the film so far, and everything seems perfectly on track to recreate some of the magic we got with the original scrappy superheroes (and super-villains) featured in Kick-Ass.

Take a look at the red-band trailer for Kick-Ass 2 below, courtesy of MTV, but be sure to ask your mother if it’s okay first.

So what do you think? We’ve gotten a few glimpses of Jim Carrey as Colonel Stars and Stripes in set photos and videos, but seeing him in action is a little unexpected. We’re excited to see Carrey in the role, and even more excited to see him pull off a character that is very separated from his typically wacky demeanor.

Christopher Mintz-Plasse returns, though this time not as The Red Mist. As you can see in the trailer, he has changed his name to something a little more hardcore: “The Motherfucker”.

Missing from the trailer is Donald Faison (Scrubs) as Doctor Gravity, though we can expect to see him join Kick-Ass’s side if the film follows the original comics closely. Maybe we’ll get to catch a glimpse of the Gravity Pole, or maybe even the Double-dong dildo (an actual weapon of his) in the next trailer!

Does this trailer make you even more excited for ‘Kick-Ass 2’?

Update: Check out the official poster for Kick-Ass 2 which was just released.
