The KH3 theme song “Face My Fears” is a collab between Hikaru Utada and Skrillex, and is quite the bop.

Full versions of both the English and Japanese versions of the KH3 theme song “Face My Fears” were released on an EP, along with both versions of the game’s end theme song, “Don’t Think Twice.” Listen to the full versions of the tracks below.

There’s a certain magic and authenticity to Utada’s voice in the Japanese version of “Face My Fears” that simply isn’t present in the English translation. It’s not to say that there is a lack of effort in the English version of the theme song, but the emotions that I felt while listening to the Japanese track were simply not present when I listened to the English one.

Last month, Square Enix gave us our first look at what the opening movie for Kingdom Hearts 3 will look like in a sort of supercut version set to a smaller clip of “Face My Fears.” It seems as though the KH3 intro will recap the events of nearly all of the previous games, much like Dream Drop Distance and Kingdom Hearts 2 did in their intro movies.

Hype for the RPG is reaching an all-time high, even amongst leaks last month that nearly derailed the game’s surprises for many fans. However, the Kingdom Hearts fandom has been stalwart and true to the development team, and has decidedly not shared spoilers of the opening moments of the game.

The Kingdom Hearts team is running a sweepstake wherein fans are meant to share the hashtag #❤❤❤ and #sweepstake on their social media platform of choice to enter. Square and Disney are asking fans to light up the world with messages of love, hope, and happiness, and in return, will be rewarding lucky fans with prizes that include “a stay in an Ice Hotel in Sweden (Frozen), a trip to Tokyo (Big Hero 6), a visit to the Parthenon in Greece (Hercules) and more.” The sweepstake ends on January 20, 2019.

Kingdom Hearts 3 releases for PS4 and Xbox One on January 29, 2019.
