Move over Kevin Spacey. Director Ridley Scott and Imperative Entertainment’s Dan Friedkin and Bradley Thomas have just announced they will be removing Spacey from their finished film, All the Money in the World.

Deadline reports that actor Christopher Plummer has already been tapped to replace Spacey, who had originally played the role of J Paul Getty in the film.

The bold move from Scott and those at Imperative Entertainment is especially shocking given that the film has already been completed, and that Scott intends to ensure All the Money in the World keeps its slated release date of December 22.

The move to eliminate Spacey from the production comes just a few weeks after actor Anthony Rapp came forward and revealed the actor made sexual advances toward him in his teens. Shortly thereafter, a number of individuals, including some crew members on Netflix’s House of Cards, revealed that Spacey had harassed them on set of the since cancelled political drama.

Shortly thereafter, All the Money in the World was pulled from the coveted closing night slight of this year’s AFI Festival, which served as a catalyst to move forward with the decision to replace Spacey with someone else.

According to Deadline’s report, Scott’s decision to reshoot Spacey’s parts is backed in full by Sony Pictures, and by the cast and crew of All the Money in the World, which includes actors Mark Wahlberg and Michelle Williams.

Reshoots with Plummer are expected to start immediately. We’ll be rooting for Ridley Scott and his team to finish reshoots in time to make their intended release date.

The upcoming crime drama will focus on the kidnapping of 16-year-old John Paul Getty III, and the lengths his mother (Williams) goes to in order to convince his billionaire grandfather (Plummer) to pay the ransom.

All the Money in the World is expected to hit theaters on December 22.
