Though Captain Marvel has yet to make her on-screen debut, President of Marvel Studios Kevin Feige confirmed to the BBC that there are already plans to introduce her protégé, Kamala Khan, a.k.a. Ms. Marvel.

The news came via Twitter used StaarksHeart, who posted a clip of a longer interview Feige conducted with the BBC. Feige was on the press tour for Infinity War in the U.K. at the time of his comments.

“We’re doing Capital Marvel right now,” Feige said, when asked whether Ms. Marvel was on the horizon. “Captain Marvel is shooting right now with Brie Larson. Ms. Marvel, which is another character in the comic books, the Muslim hero who was inspired by Captain Marvel, is definitely in the works. We have plans for that once we’ve introduced Captain Marvel.”

Kamala Khan was one of the female Marvel heroes we most wanted to see with a solo movie, following the news that a Black Widow movie had gone in production. Though we were skeptical at the time, due to Captain Marvel’s debut still being over a year away, it would appear that Feige is on the same page as fans wanting Kamala to join the fray.

And, with the landscape of the Marvel Cinematic Universe set to change as Phase Four is ushered in after Avengers 4, introducing Kamala in the not-so-distant future would be a very welcome addition as other heroes are set to exit.

Several movies through 2022 in the Marvel calendar remain untitled. It would not be a stretch to assume that one of those might be a sequel to the upcoming Captain Marvel movie, and also introduce Ms. Marvel.
