Scandal actress Kerry Washington is developing a new television show for ABC Studios called Patrol, centered on LAPD officers.

Olivia Pope, and the actress who plays her, is a force to be reckoned with, and no one knows this better than ABC, which is why the studio is teaming up with Washington to develop her new series.

Variety reports that Patrol is “a workplace drama about four female LAPD officers who attended the police academy together five years ago and are forced to reconnect after a high-stakes, traumatic secret returns to haunt them.”

Washington will executive produce the project as a part of a deal she signed with ABC earlier in the year to develop new programming for them. The show will also fall under the control of her production company Simpson Street.

Chitra Sampath (Secrets and Lies) wrote the script and will be executive producing alongside Washington.

Without much more information, Patrol sounds a little bit like ABC’s new powerhouse Quantico, starring Priyanka Chopra. Quantico takes place on the other side of the country, but it also centers around friendships formed in the past and secrets coming back to haunt our heroes.

The Scandal season 6 premiere date has been delayed from its usual fall release to a mid-season release due to Washington’s pregnancy.

There’s no word yet on when Patrol will get underway or what kind of premiere date we could be looking at, but expect it to find a solid spot during primetime viewing in the fall. Nobody puts Olivia Pope in a corner.

Will you be tuning into ‘Patrol’ once it airs on ABC?
