Kelly Clarkson is venturing into the world of daytime talk shows with her new show that’s been picked up by NBC.

As the first American Idol champion, Kelly Clarkson has made quite the name for herself in the music world. While she’s also occasionally ventured away from music do some acting roles in television guest spots and the infamous movie musical From Justin to Kelly, she’s mostly stuck to music. However, it seems she’s exploring new territory by landing her very own talk show.

The Kelly Clarkson Show has been picked up by NBC, and will be a daytime talk show hosted by Clarkson, Variety reports. Her touring band is set to be the show’s house band, and as she explained on Jimmy Fallon, the show will air just before Ellen.

Kelly Clarkson has been serving as a coach on the reality show The Voice, which has helped her gain a following outside of those who only know her through her music career. Her warm personality and fun attitude make her a ton of fun to watch, and will likely make her an excellent daytime talk show host.

As the president of NBCUniversal Owned Television Stations Valari Staab said in a statement, NBC is hoping The Kelly Clarkson Show will not only delight audiences, but it will serve as the perfect companion show to fans of Ellen to keep people watching NBC all afternoon.

“We are very excited to have Kelly Clarkson on our air next fall. She’s genuine, warm, fun and interacts with her fans in a meaningful way. Throughout her career people of all ages and backgrounds have related to her openness, honesty and curiosity. She will be the perfect companion to Ellen, providing an afternoon of great television.

While it’s a bummer that we have to wait until next fall to see the talk show, we’re excited to see what kind of fun energy Kelly Clarkson will bring to daytime TV. But from what we’ve seen of Clarkson at her concerts and on The Voice, this is going to be a fun, light-hearted talk show that will be the perfect midday mood booster.
