life.love.beauty by Keegan Allen is the stunning account of the actor’s life growing up in California and diving into the acting world as an adult.

Last week, Pretty Little Liars star, Keegan Allen, released his first photography book life.love.beauty through St. Martin’s Press. Here is the book description released by the publishing house:

“A photographer and writer since childhood, Keegan’s self-described ‘passion project’ is a thoughtful, moving photographic journal of his life thus far. On one hand, the book is a candid view into the glamour and timelessness of Hollywood, a mysterious yet wildly alluring place. On the other, it offers moving intimate glimpses of ordinary life—the unknown young woman gazing dreamily from the balcony of her hotel room, or the old woman who walks the same street every morning in her pink bathrobe, just to stop and talk to a passerby.

Through his own photography and captivating prose and poetry, Keegan chronicles his life growing up just off the Sunset Strip, coming into his own as a young aspiring actor, looking for love and understanding, negotiating the seductions and disappointments of Hollywood, landing a plum role in a hit television series, encountering and embracing his fans, traveling the globe to promote his work, and striving to stay connected to his closest friends and loved ones.”

‘life.love.beauty’ book review

We’ve seen plenty of memoirs from celebrities pop up in bookstores for as long as we can remember. Each author trying to show you a hidden side of their personality, the “real” side the audience can relate to. If that’s what you’re expecting from Keegan Allen’s life.love.beauty then this may not be the book for you. Yes, you will see Keegan in a new light, but this book is about so much more than relatability. This is a book about passion. By blending words and pictures together we are able to take a peek inside Keegan’s soul. Pictures that tell stories that no words could express. Though, there is no lack of writing in this book with little stories and musing littering the pages.

Instead of just a book of photos, what Keegan has given us is a stunning photographic journal that was 16 years in the making. Spanning years of images, poems and journal entries, Keegan takes us on a journey that begins with the first photo he captured when he was 9 years old and ends with his career as a television and movie actor at age 25.

While it features enough behind the scenes shots from the Pretty Little Liars set to keep fans happy, it’s the more intimate and personal images that make this book something really special. From bleaching his hair as a boy to look like Thom Yorke from Radiohead or being “busted” by the cops after getting caught selling his Pokémon cards on the street, every little snippet from his childhood is as endearing as the next.

We have a feeling that fans will come for the Pretty Little Liars moments but will be charmed by the passion and authenticity behind each and every photo taken. Even if you aren’t a fan of the ABC Family drama we highly recommend you pick up a copy of life.love.beauty.
