Kaya Scodelario, recently cast as Teresa in the upcoming The Maze Runner movie, shares a few details about the adaptation and for the first time we hear how the actress views the series as a whole.

In a video released from Flicks and the City yesterday, Kaya Scodelario talks about the process of transitioning from teenager to adult on screen, how that change affects her work, as well as sharing some information about several of her upcoming film and TV projects.

Toward the end of the interview, she begins to discuss The Maze Runner movie as well as her feelings on the franchise in general. Check out the video below to learn the details:

Kaya Scodelario Interview

In the interview, it’s confirmed that Scodelario, along with her fellow cast mates, will indeed be using American accents in the film. Although an American production, fans weren’t sure if they should assume the heavily British cast would be asked to don a different accent for the role. Now the decision has been made clear.

But for the majority of Maze Runner fans, the most interesting part of the interview comes from Scodelario’s comments on the trilogy as a whole. As one of our first looks into how Scodelario interprets the series and what tone she believes it to have, these opinions hold a lot of weight for fans of the books.

The actress remarks that “there is no lovey dovey stuff” and goes on to say that she sees that the trilogy is about survival, people, conspiracies and believes it to be very intelligent – an interesting comment to make, especially seeing as so many of the recent young-adult franchises have been leaning heavily on romance to bring in audience support. It seems as though Scodelario sees her series as a bit different from the bunch and hopes that other people will find the change refreshing as well.

What do you think of Scodelario’s comments on ‘The Maze Runner’ film? Are you happy with the way she seems to perceive the trilogy?
