Katy Perry and Bruno Mars were born just around the time when vinyl records started going the way of today’s CDs, but they’re each releasing one in celebration of Record Store Day Saturday.

Perry is doing her part in helping roughly 2,000 independent music stores by releasing “Part of Me (Jacques Lu Cont’s Thin White Duke Remix)” on a 12-inch single with “Tommie Sunshine’s Megasix Smash-Up” on the flip side. Bruno Mars is releasing a 10-inch single with four versions of his hit “Grenade.”

Last year, Record Store Day was the biggest day of the year for vinyl record sales, the AP reports. It brought a boost to an industry that has been on a downslope since CDs were introduced in the 1980s.

Others joining in the effort include Paul McCartney, Coldplay, The Black Keys, Sara Bareilles and Bruce Springsteen. For the full list, visit RecordStoreDay.com.
