Ryan Murphy’s American Crime Story anthology will next be tackling the fallout from Hurricane Katrina, and a central character to the story has just been cast.

Following The People v. O.J. Simpson, the next American Crime Story installment will focus on Hurricane Katrina, which devastated Louisiana in 2005.

The Wrap reports that Dennis Quaid has been cast as the 43rd President, George W. Brush, who has been criticized for mishandling the crisis. He joins Matthew Broderick as FEMA director Michael D. Brown and Annette Bening as Louisiana governor Kathleen Blanco.

Katrina’s destruction hits close to home for a lot of people and is certainly stands in much more recent history that O.J. Simpson’s trials, so it’ll be interesting to see what kind of reaction viewers will have to the story.

The People v. O.J. Simpson won several Emmys, so it’s possible Katrina could be just as successful. Only time will tell.

American Crime Story was picked up for an additional three seasons following The People’s premiere. The second season is being based off the novel The Great Deluge: Hurricane Katrina, New Orleans, and the Mississippi Gulf Coast by Douglas Brinkley.

The third season will focus on the murder of Gianni Versace by serial killer Andrew Cunanan, while the fourth season will focus on the Monica Lewinsky and Bill Clinton sex scandal.
