Ridley Scott’s Prometheus sequel (also known as Alien: Covenant) will star Katherine Waterston and Michael Fassbender.

Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them is still a year away, and yet Katherine Waterston already feels like part of the Harry Potter family.

But Waterston, who plays Porpentina Goldstein in Fantastic Beasts, is also about to join another franchise.

The Wrap reports that the 35-year-old actress has been cast in Alien: Covenant, which was previously titled Alien: Paradise Lost.

In Covenant, Katherine Waterston will reunite with her Steve Jobs co-star Michael Fassbender. Fassbender is our link to the first Prometheus movie, where played the android David; Noomi Rapace will also return as Elizabeth Shaw.

Not much is known about the plot of Ridley Scott’s latest epic, but we do know that Waterston will play a character named Daniels. Mission Impossible: Rogue Nation star Rebecca Ferguson was previously up for the same role.

Of course Alien: Covenant is a super confusing title, because it is not, in fact, an Alien movie. Rather, it’s the sequel to Prometheus, which is set long before Ridley Scott’s Alien franchise began. Of course, the Alien title might indicate that this film will link the two series more closely together.

Just don’t mix up Alien: Covenant with Alien 5, a sequel of sorts also currently in development.

The Prometheus sequel has delayed Alien 5, but it’s still happening, directed by Neill Blomkamp. Ridley Scott is producing, and in all likelihood, Sigourney Weaver will reprise her role of Ripley.

‘Alien: Covenant’ is set for October 6, 2017
