A couple clips showing off Kate Winslet’s work as Jeanine Matthews in Divergent show off the actress’ delivery.

Entertainment Tonight’s new Divergent movie preview shows two clips of Jeanine Matthews. The first one at the start of the video shows her directly addressing Tris as Four stands at the elder’s side.

Asks Tris (Shailene Woodley), “But we’re safer, really?”

Responds Jeanine in what may be a scene to help guide moviegoers, “The brilliance of the faction system is the conformity of the faction removes the threat of anyone exercising their own independent will. This is what allows us to live in peace. Divergents threaten that system.”

The second clip at the very end of the video shows Jeanine speaking to a person off camera. “I think human nature is the enemy,” she says. “Human nature to keep secrets, to lie, to steal, to be destructive. I want to eradicate that. That’s how we’ll maintain a stable, peaceful society.”

We’re loving Winslet as Jeanine Matthews and think she was a perfect choice for the role! She’s strong, threatening, and offers smooth, confident delivery.

In between these two scenes are interviews with cast members Zoe Kravitz (Christina), Ray Stevenson (Marcus), Woodley, and Miles Teller (Peter) who speak about the factions on a roof top.

Divergent will open in theaters March 21, 2014. Over on the book side of the fandom, the final part of the trilogy titled Allegiant hit store shelves last week. You can discuss the events of the story in our previous article.
