Kate Winslet is gearing up to make her grand return to the small screen!

According to The Hollywood Reporter, actress Kate Winslet has signed on to star in HBO’s brand new limited series, Mare of Easttown.

The project marks Winslet’s big return to television and to HBO. The last time she was seen on the small screen was eight years ago when she starred in HBO’s Mildred Pierce. Winslet later went on to win an Emmy for her work on the 2011 HBO series.

Winslet will play a detective in a small Pennsylvania town who finds herself investigating a murder case while also dealing with a personal life in shambles. In addition to starring in Mare of Easttown, Winslet will also serve as executive producer on the limited series.

The series hails from creator Brad Ingelsby, whose past credits include Run All Night and American Woman. He’ll be serving as show runner on Mare of Easttown and will also be writing the script for every episode of the limited series.

Additionally, HBO has tapped The Accountant vet Gavin O’Connor to serve as director on the project.

There’s currently no word on when we can expect Mare of Easttown to premiere on HBO.

Up next, Kate Winslet fans can catch the Academy Award-winning actress re-teaming with her Titanic director James Cameron on Avatar 2. The highly anticipated sequel is set to hit theaters in 2020.
