Dangerous Deception by Kami Garcia and Margaret Stohl releases today and Kami talks with us about some of her favorite love triangles.

Dangerous Deception is latest novel in the Dangerous Creatures spin off series. The series features Link and Ridley except in this novel Ridley is missing. Link begins his search for Ridley with the help of his bandmates and Lennox Gates who wants Ridley for himself. The novel is filled with action and mystery as Link tries to find Ridley and uncover an evil in New Orleans that threatens to destroy them all.

In honor of her new release, Dangerous Deception, Kami Garcia shared with us some of her favorite love triangles.

Outlander series (Jamie, Claire, Frank) – Claire is a strong, independent World War II nurse who doesn’t need a man. But, as an accidental time traveler, she gets to enjoy the “company” of both her charming historian husband Frank, in the 1940s, and smoking-hot, honorable Highlander Jamie in the 1740s. Regardless of where (or when) she finally ends up, she really can’t lose.

The Mortal Instruments series (Jace, Clary, Simon) – Though Clary and arrogant, sarcastic Shadowhunter Jace seemed pretty endgame to me from early on (sorry, Simon!), the love triangle in the Mortal Instruments series is still one of my favorites. As the series evolves, Simon moves past his unrequited love and he and Clary grow even closer as friends (and kick plenty of supernatural ass together along the way).

Vampire Academy series (Dimitri, Rose, Adrian) – Dimitri is Russian, intense, romantic, honorable, and one of the most skilled guardians in recent memory. Adrian is the tortured artist type — charismatic, gorgeous, and vampire royalty. If only we all had to contend with problems like fiery Rose’s romantic dilemma.

The Hunger Games series (Peeta, Katniss, Gale) – While The Hunger Games deals with stakes so high that love often takes a backseat, Katniss’ choice between Gale and Peeta becomes more than a romantic one. It’s a choice that dictates what kind of tactics she’s willing to use against the Capitol and the kind of life she wants to lead if the rebellion succeeds. If only every important decision came in such attractive package.

A Song of Ice and Fire series (Robert, Lyanna, Rhaegar) – For a love triangle we never see “on-screen” — in either George R. R. Martin’s novels or the HBO series — it is undeniably one of the powerful triangles I’ve encountered in literature. The struggle for Lyanna started a war, installed a new ruler on the Iron Throne, set a number of key events in motion, and sparked countless fan theories (R+L=J, anyone?).

Anna and the French Kiss series (Anna, St. Clair, Ellie) – The immediate chemistry and subsequent slow burn between Anna and St. Clair—half-French, half-American, British accent, and oh-so-charming—makes for a compulsively delicious and readable YA romance. Thought you can’t help but feel a little bad for Ellie…true love does conquer all.
