Get ready to see more of Kal Penn on network television.

According to Deadline, NBC has officially given a series order to the upcoming comedy Sunnyside starring Kal Penn.

The actor, known for such projects as Harold & Kumar, House, and Designated Survivor, won’t just be starring in the new series. He’ll also be co-writing and serving as an executive producer.

Penn won’t be working alone. In addition, Sunnyside is also set to be executive produced by Parks & Recs vet Michael Schur.

For Schur, the forthcoming series will mark the producer’s third series currently on air on NBC.

Currently, he serves as executive producer on the heavy-hitting sitcoms The Good Place and Brooklyn Nine-Nine. Both of the aforementioned comedies have already been renewed by NBC for season 4 and season 7, respectively.

Also working on Sunnyside behind the camera is Matt Murray, who will co-write the series alongside Penn.

Pegged as an immigrant comedy, Sunnyside will find Penn starring as a disgraced New York City councilman and former baseball wunderkind named Garret Shah.

The series will tell the story of how Shah finds his calling after he comes face to face with seven recent immigrants all in search of the American Dream.

Kiran Deol (Mallory), Moses Storm (Brady), Diana Maria Rivera (Griselda), Samba Schutte (Hakim), Poppy Liu (Mei Lin), Joel Kim Booster (Jin Hao), and Tudor Petrut (Drzen) have all officially signed on co-star opposite Penn as the seven immigrants.

Though NBC has officially added the series to its upcoming 2019-2020 television slate, there’s currently no word on when we can expect Sunnyside to make its grand debut on the network.
