Looking to expand his presence in the entertainment sphere, it was reported today that a Justin Bieber TV show, about the singer’s life before fame, is in development at ABC.

TV Guide broke the news of the single-camera production, and Justin Bieber would be an executive producer alongside his longtime manager Scooter Bruan. The family comedy show “would center on Bieber’s background before he got famous. The comedy is about a future pop star’s awkward teenage years and his unorthodox family.”

Matt Wolpert and Ben Nedivi are writing the pilot script. Their previous work includes HBO’s Entourage.

It is not yet known if the singer would star in the show, but to help boost ratings we imagine he’d have some sort of presence at the least.

The show was first pitched at ABC next year but was then put on hold. It’s now being considered for next year.

Is a Justin Bieber TV show destined to be a flop, or could it be a success? The singer had a concert special this past summer on NBC that flopped in the ratings. The two-part event pulled in roughly 3 million viewers each night, which was less than what had been expected.

Lest we forget about his 3D film Never Say Never, which told the story of his rise to fame in between performances from a concert. Released in February 2011, it made $98 million worldwide.
