Recent reports suggest that Warner Bros. will be announcing new DC films at Comic-con, including Aquaman, and it turns out Game of Thrones’ actor Jason Momoa is set to star.

While Warner Bros. has yet to make an announcement concerning Momoa’s involvement as Aquaman, HitFix reports that “he will be playing the part, and that Zack Snyder has already finalized his designs for the character so shooting can take place soon.”

This means that Aquaman would be making an appearance in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, with a much larger role in Warner Bros.’ superhero gathering titled Justice League. With so many new characters being introduced in Dawn of Justice, we have to wonder how Snyder plans on interweaving all of the storylines while focusing on the two main heros.

The recent report suggesting that WB will announce its plans of introducing Wonder Woman, The Flash, Green Lantern and Aquaman at Comic-Con makes this news seem a bit more trustworthy than normal.

Update: THR confirms that Jason Momoa will play Aquaman in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice and Justice League.

Included in the report are the film adaptations Shazam (July 2016), Sandman (Dec 25), Justice League (May 2017), Wonder Woman (July 2017), Flash and Green Lantern team-up in Christmas 2017 and then finally Man of Steel 2 in May, 2018.

While that report didn’t reveal a solo film for Aquaman, it looks as though he’ll have a large supporting role in Justice League, while being introduced in the upcoming Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice.

HitFix suggests that Aquaman’s storyline will come from the fact that the World Engine caused damage to the Indian Ocean during Man of Steel’s final battle sequence which saw Superman and Zod destroy quite a bit of Earth’s terrain.

While Momoa will make an appearance in Dawn of Justice, he is set to have a much larger role in Justice League when it hits theaters May, 2017. We look forward to finding out if the Aquaman rumors are true, as he’s thought to be one of the most difficult superheroes to introduce into the DC universe.
