Jurassic Park 5 (the planned spin-off for this month’s Jurassic World) will need to find a new director, as Colin Trevorrow is officially not returning.

Jurassic World opens in theaters next week, and considering the buzz the franchise’s return has generated, a sequel is almost guaranteed.

But it won’t be with Colin Trevorrow at the helm.

Speaking at the world premiere in France, Trevorrow told Italian news outlet Bad Taste (as translated by Coming Soon), “Jurassic Park is like Star Wars. Different directors can give a different taste to each movie. I would be involved in some way, but not as director.”

With Trevorrow presumably eyeing other projects, the Steven Spielberg-led Jurassic Park franchise will need to find a new director for its fifth installment.

Could Steven Spielberg himself be a possibility? Short answer: it’s not likely, with the iconic director already set to helm Ready Player One, The BFG, It’s What I Do, Montezuma and of course Indiana Jones 5.

Colin Trevorrow is a relatively new name in Hollywood, making his big screen debut in 2012 with the dark comedy Safety Not Guaranteed. It’ll be interesting to see whether Jurassic World will propel his career forward, or whether it’ll fizzle at the box office like some critics are speculating.

‘Jurassic World’ opens in 2D, 3D and IMAX theaters on June 12, 2015
