Universal Pictures has appointed the writers of Rise of the Planet of the Apes to pen the fourth entry in the dinosaur disaster franchise.

Nowadays in Hollywood, the industry is constantly clamouring for the next big “franchise” to bring in the bucks and secure financial security. So, it’s hardly surprising that Universal is resting on its laurels and producing a third sequel to one of the oldest and reliably bankable franchises around. According to Deadline, the studio has hired Rick Jaffa and Amanda Silver to write the script for Jurassic Park 4. This move is hardly surprising, given the duo’s critical and commercial success with genetically modified creatures on Rise of the Planet of the Apes.

Steven Spielberg will not return to direct the fourth entry, but will produce alongside Kathleen Kennedy and Frank Marshall. The original movie will be released in 3D on July 19, 2013.

Are you looking forward to walking with the deadly dinosaurs again?
