The first trailer is here for Jumanji: The Next Level and it features all our favorite characters from the first fantastic film, with the added fun of The Rock playing Danny Devito.

Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle — a reboot of the beloved Robin Williams movie from 1995 — was last year’s surprise January hit. A movie that — at first — seemed like a simple money grab at childhood nostalgia turned out to be a genuinely funny, fun and surprisingly heartwarming film that was a more than worthy successor to the 1995 film.

Led by the charisma of leads Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson and Kevin Hart and with laugh out loud supporting performances from Karen Gillan and Jack Black, Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle went on to gross over $900 million worldwide on a $150 million dollar budget and was immediately greenlit for a sequel.

Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson has been teasing us with looks into the film for months now and this morning finally gave us the first trailer for what’s sure to be another hit for one of the hardest working men in Hollywood.

The trailer reintroduces us to the same four teens from the first film — Spencer, Anthony, Martha and Bethany — who seem to have drifted apart after their friendship-making adventures in the first film. Spencer, who is currently living with his grandfather, somehow finds a Jumanji cartridge and begins working on it in his basement — only to get sucked into the game. The rest of his friends come over and discover that he’s missing and likewise get sucked in.

At first, you’re worried that the sequel will be another direct retread of the first movie — but this one offers us a great and hilarious twist. Rather than the same four teens inhabiting the same four videogame avatars, it seems that Spencer’s grandfather — played by Danny Devito — and his grandfather’s friend, Milo Walker — played by Danny Glover — have been sucked into the game as well. Which means we get to see Dwayne Johnson play Danny Devito, Kevin Hart play Danny Glover along with Jack Black play Ser’Darius Blain’s Anthony ‘Fridge’ Johnson.

The trailer offers plenty of laughs and adventure as we listen to the The-Rock-as-Danny-Devito ask, “What is Jumanji?”, see the four videogame avatars drive away from a flock of killer birds, and watch as they try to outrun killer baboons on an intricate set of hanging bridges.

Along with the introduction of Danny DeVito and Danny Glover, Jumanji: The Next Level has all the cast from the first film returning — including Nick Jonas — and features a new character played by Awkwafina.

Jumanji: The Next Level opens in movie theaters on Christmas!
