The Rock has revealed the concept art of his character from the new Jumanji movie, who is, apparently, King of the Smolder.
Don’t tell Flynn Rider that.
The Rock’s excitement for the new Jumanji movie is a little bit contagious, even if you’re feeling wary about the film.
Luckily, we can rest easy in knowing it’s not a reboot, but that doesn’t make it any easier to watch other people get close to a movie that means so much to so many people.
Plus, Johnson won’t be going anywhere near Alan Parrish, one of Robin Williams’ most iconic characters.
Instead, he’ll be playing “The Smoldering” Dr. Bravestone. The concept art below shows Johnson dressed in gear that makes him look remarkably like Indiana Jones. The art was created by Costume Designer Laura Jean Shannon.
It’ll be interesting to learn more about Dr. Bravestone’s occupation and personality. Johnson is adept at both dramatic and comedic roles, and the original Jumanji film was a great combination of both those characteristics.
But, as the Instagram post reminds us, this film continues the adventure from the first one, so there’s truly no way of telling which direction they’ll be going in just yet. Still, they will “play the game that plays you,” and that always promises a dangerously good time.
As he says in his caption, Johnson will be joined by Kevin Hart, Nick Jonas, Jack Black, and most recently, Karen Gillan. Filming begins this month in Hawaii.
