Jude Law is headed to HBO to star in their new miniseries The Third Day. HBO will be partnering with Sky Studios who helped create Chernobyl.

HBO is bringing us another dynamic miniseries. After the intense success of the miniseries Chernobyl, a limited engagement that had the premium cable channel partnering with Sky Studios, the two are teaming up again to bring us The Third Day, starring Jude Law.

The six-episode miniseries will be the first endeavor into original content for Sky Studios and will tell the story of a man named Sam (Jude Law) who is drawn to a mysterious island off of the British coast. Once he arrives on the isolated island and is thrown into the unusual world of the island’s locals, the island’s rituals begin to overwhelm him and he is confronted with past trauma. This causes the line between reality and fantasy to blur, and Sam begins to find himself at odds with the island’s inhabitants.

President of HBO Programming, Casey Bloys said of the new series in a statement to Variety, “Dennis and Felix have created something fresh and unique, and we are thrilled to have this on HBO. We look forward to collaborating with Punchdrunk International, Marc and Jude as well as furthering our relationship with Sky and Plan B Entertainment.”

This series sounds amazing, and we can’t wait to see what mysteries Sam finds on this island. HBO and Sky have made a pretty amazing team with series like Chernobyl and The Young Pope, so we’re certain this new show will be just as mind-blowing and marathon-watch-worthy as their previous partnerships. Plus, with a talented actor like Jude Law heading up the cast, this is one you can’t miss.

The Third Day is set to begin production in July, and will premiere on HBO in the UK and the US in 2020.
