If you’ve seen Knocked UpThis is 40, and Funny People, then you know that director Judd Apatow cast his wife, Leslie Mann, and their two daughters, Maude and Iris, in the films. In a recent interview, Apatow hinted that he may continue to do so in future films.

While Funny People was a stand-alone movie, This is 40 was the “sort-of-sequel” to Knocked Up, so Mann and her daughters (and Paul Rudd) played the same characters in 2012 as they did in 2007.

Apatow stated: “I like the series Truffaut made where he revisited the same character five different times in five different movies. I think it’s fun to see people grow up. I’m interested in it with Leslie and Paul’s characters, but I’m even more interested in Maude and Iris.”

What would the next “sort-of-sequel” be about? Since Maude’s character, Sadie, is 13 in This is 40, Apatow is “thinking that maybe in the next one she’s in college.” That could be fun to see – watching two parents have an emotional breakdown when their eldest child goes to college, and watching the dynamic change for Iris’ character Charlotte; switching from the youngest child to the only child in the house could be pretty funny.

Maude also commented on her father possibly making more movies, starring her: “Maybe it’s just I’m lazy and it’s a fun way to get home movies.” Welp, we guess that would be a fun way to get home movies, although with Paul Rudd standing in as her father!

What do you think about Apatow making more films with his wife, daughters, and Rudd?

Thanks, Vulture.
