Judd Apatow fans will have to head over to Netflix if they’re interested in seeing the director’s next feature film.

According to Deadline, Judd Apatow is working on a brand new comedy set to make its grand debut via Netflix, and not in traditional theaters.

Apatow seems to be taking inspiration from the current pandemic for his next feature film, which the director is set to helm and produce. In addition, Apatow will also team up with Pam Brady to co-write the script.

The untitled comedy reportedly focuses on a group of actors and actresses stuck quarantining together inside of a hotel. The group is there to finish production on a film that they’re trying to complete in the middle of a pandemic.

Apatow is far from the first filmmaker to draw inspiration from the ongoing coronavirus pandemic. In fact, a slew of pandemic related programming seems to be on the horizon across television and film. But while many seem to be taking a more serious approach, perhaps Apatow’s comedic take on the situation will be easier to stomach for those who might be a bit weary about seeing a version of their own reality reflected back to them on the screen.

The director’s forthcoming untitled Netflix comedy marks the second of the director’s more recent projects to skip theaters and head straight to streaming.

In fact, his most recent film, The King of Staten Island, ended up heading straight o Premium VOD this past summer.

Currently, there’s no word on when we can expect Judd Apatow’s untitled pandemic comedy to hit Netflix.
