Joss Whedon took to the stage at San Diego Comic-Con to share some updates on his various projects.

So what did the world’s busiest man have to share with the Hall H audience? It has been an interesting time for Whedon; as he says, “I feel like five years ago a tornado ripped up my house, and dropped it in the land of Marvel.” We have picked out 5 of the best moments from Whedon’s one man Comic-Con show.

1. Joss Whedon is returning to the world of comics.

Whedon began his panel by announcing that he is returning to comics with a six issue book called Twist. The book deals with what Whedon calls “the most important moral issue facing us now: Why isn’t there a Victorian, female Batman?,” and will be out next year. Based on that premise, we’re sold.

2. Whedon’s favorite ever character is Buffy.

Perhaps this is a no-brainer, but when an audience member asked Whedon which of his own characters is his absolute favorite, he had to take a moment to think. He finally prefaced his answer with, “it changes daily,” but then added, “I kind of feel, how can I not say Buffy?”

3. The ‘Dr. Horrible’s Sing Along Blog’ sequel is STILL coming.

“Everybody wants to do it; everybody is insanely busy,” Whedon said. It sounds like everyone involved is absolutely set on being involved but they all have too much on, (although “I’m unemployed,” Whedon quipped). While he wasn’t able to offer any concrete details of a timeframe to expect the sequel, it’s comforting to hear that it is still very much on the cards.

4. He accepts that race needs to be a bigger consideration in his work.

When asked when audiences can expect to see a greater diversity of race in his work, Whedon said, “Soon.” He expanded that when critics point out the lack of racial diversity in his work, he thinks, “Good call,” and that his focus has always been on gender but that broader representation is certainly a consideration for him going forward.

5. He is now a Comic-Con icon.

Okay, this one isn’t really a fact from Whedon — but at the end of his panel, Whedon was awarded the San Diego Comic-Con Icon Award. We all knew he was an icon; but now it’s official.
