Two sneak peek clips have been released from Joss Whedon’s adaptation of Shakespeare’s Much Ado About Nothing, feauturing Alexis Denisof, Clark Gregg, and the unparalleled Nathan Fillion.

The official UK Facebook page for Joss Whedon’s Much Ado About Nothing is keeping up the excitement with two new sneak peeks from the film.

The first clip features a hilarious confrontation between Benedick (Alexis Denisof) and Claudio (Fran Kranz) when the former learns that the latter is “thrusting his neck” into the yoke of love. The two friends are interrupted in their squabbling by Don Pedro (Reed Diamond), who wants to know what they are fighting about. The scene leads into one of several plots of disguise and trickery – all in the name of love – that powers the story of Much Ado About Nothing.

The second clip focuses on the inept and grandiose Dogberry (Nathan Fillion) and his partner Verges (Tom Lenk) as they attempt to tell Leonato (Clark Gregg) about the rogue they apprehended the previous night. Unfortunately, Leonato is too preoccupied with family affairs to pay them much attention.

According to a recent interview with director Joss Whedon, Nathan Fillion tried to back out of the role of the bumbling and linguistically-befuddled officer of the law. If this slick and hilarious clip is any indication of Fillion’s performance, we’re grateful that Whedon prevailed – it looks like Fillion is bringing the perfect energy to the role of Dogberry.

Much Ado About Nothing is currently in limited release in Los Angeles and New York. The film will open in the UK on June 14, and will hit more theaters in the US on June 21.
