Pick-up shots for The Avengers: Age of Ultron will give the film more extravagant action scenes, according to a new report.

While principal photography on Joss Whedon’s The Avengers: Age of Ultron is complete, the director will be reuniting his Avengers team in January 2015 to film some additional material.

According to Den of Geek, Whedon has now spent a couple of weeks in the editing suite, and has decided what material is still missing from the movie.

He’s set for two weeks of extra shooting at Pinewood Studios in London, with several cast members from the film.

DoG cites a report in British newspaper The Daily Mail, which states that the Avengers sequel, “needs a bit more kick-ass on an extravagant scale.”

The teaser trailer was released about a month ago, and we think there’s plenty of extravagant action in there already! But it’s good to know that Whedon is ambitious:

The film will see all the original Avengers (Chris Hemsworth, Mark Ruffalo, Scarlett Johansson, Robert Downey Jr., Chris Evans and Jeremy Renner) return, and also introduce a couple of new players – most notably James Spader, who’ll be playing the villainous robot Ultron.

Other new cast members include Elizabeth Olsen, Andy Serkis and Aaron Taylor-Johnson.

The Avengers: Age of Ultron is set for release on May 1, 2015. The two-part finale, Infinity War parts 1 and 2, is expected to begin shooting next year.
