The upcoming Peacock true crime limited series, Dr. Death has found its star in Joshua Jackson.

According to Deadline, actor Joshua Jackson has signed on to play the lead role in Peacock’s upcoming limited series, Dr. Death.

The forthcoming limited series is based on the Wondery podcast of the same name, which tells the true story of Dr. Christopher Duntsch. A rising star in the Dallas medical community who was in the process of building his own successful neurosurgery practice, Dr. Dunsch is described as “young, charismatic, and ostensibly brilliant.”

The true story takes an unsettlingly terrifying turn when the patients who enter his operation room start coming out permanently maimed or, in some cases, dead. Dr. Death is also set to delve into how two fellow physicians, Robert Henderson and Randall Kirby, took it upon themselves to try and stop him.

Joshua Jackson is set to portray Dr. Duntsch in the forthcoming true crime drama— a role originally set to be played by Jamie Dornan.

Unfortunately, Dornan, who boarded the project in August of last year, was forced to bow out due to scheduling conflicts that transpired after production on Dr. Death was pushed back as a result of the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.

Jackson joins a cast that includes the likes of Alec Baldwin and Christian Slater. The two are set to play Dr. Robert Henderson and Dr. Randall Kirby, respectively.

Production on Dr. Death is set to begin this fall, though there’s currently no word on when we can expect the series to debut via Peacock.
