Some shake-ups are set to happen in the season finale of How I Met Your Mother, and one of them may include the departure of Bob Saget as older Ted!

TV Line has spoken to series creator Craig Thomas, who reveals that in the finale there will be, “the most awkward transition in series television” when Josh Radnor “assumes narrator duties” (as TV Line puts it) from Bob Saget. Thomas says:

When I watched the end of the last Harry Potter [movie] I had such respect for what a problem that was to just jump ahead and look so much older, [because] we might be staring into the barrel of a makeup situation at some point.

Of course we’ve already seen older Ted, Lily and Marshall, but maybe this time we’ll be seeing older Ted narrate the story to his kids, and therefore Radnor’s voice will have to transition from Saget’s.

We are not sure whether this will happen only in the finale or if from here on out we will no longer be hearing Bob Saget’s voice. Hopefully this doesn’t mean that older Ted’s voice will permanently change, as that would be a bit jarring.
