Joseph Gordon-Levitt always seems to have a few big projects on his plate, and he’s just added another one with the film Sovereign.

Snowden, about the former CIA employee-turned-whistleblower, has been performing moderately well, with critics generally praising JGL’s performance as the titular character. Undeterred and always moving forward, the actor has added a new project to his roster.

According to Deadline, JGL will be starring in Sovereign, a science-fiction-based thriller from British filmmaker Marc Munden.

Geoff Tock and Gregory Weidman wrote the original screenplay, but Jack Thorne has taken on the job of re-writing it.

The report describes the film’s plot as thus:

The story sees Gordon-Levitt play a man who, in the wake of a fractured marriage, goes to find his wife and the entire crew of a space station who have gone missing. As he explores the ship, he discovers the truth about their disappearance and is forced to confront his own role in losing her.

Right now the description doesn’t sound all that extraordinary, but if Grodon-Levitt is involved, he clearly saw something in the project worth pursuing. Moreover, not only is JGL starring in the flick, but he’ll also be executive producing the project.

Listed on the actor’s IMDb page is also an untitled musical comedy (which he seems to do superbly well), as well as a rumored role in K Troop as Major Lewis Merrill.
