“This is probably our biggest news ever” says the start of Joseph Gordon-Levitt’s announcement where he reveals Hit RECord is coming to television in a new half hour variety show.

Hit RECord on TV is “a new kind of variety show,” says Gordon-Levitt. “I’ll host the show and also direct our global online community to create short films, live performances, music, animation, conversation, and of course, more! Each episode will be focused on a different theme. And like always, anybody with an internet connection is invited to contribute,” he writes on his YouTube channel.

Watch the video announcement below where he isn’t afraid to show his excitement:

Hit RECord will premiere on Pivot, a new cable channel that was announced in New York City today. Pivot promises a heavy focus on social engagement.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, several other original programs are in the works. One show is Raising McCain, “a blend of reality TV and talk show from Meghan McCain with Go Go Luckey Entertainment. Another example is WILL, “a stylized period drama on the life of William Shakespeare from Craig Pearce (Moulin Rouge, Great Gatsby).”

Joseph Gordon-Levitt’s strong online following will likely welcome this new television channel, but the main problem is it may not reach many United States homes at its launch. Will you tune in? Or are you comfortable watching JGL and co. on YouTube?
