We’ve known that Joseph Gordon-Levitt has impeccable acting skills, and he’s proved it once again thanks to this attempt at recreating “David After Dentist.”

“David After Dentist” is the viral YouTube video from a few years ago depicting a little boy who’s drugged up on medications after getting his tooth removed at the dentist. His conversation with his father was a hit thanks to the things he was saying and the way he acts.

For their annual Oscar parody trailer, Jimmy Kimmel Live decided to recreate several YouTube sensations as if they were being turned into Hollywood films. When they enlisted JGL to play David, they were surprised to find out that he memorized the kid’s entire video.

Watch below:

“Most actors would have shown up, buzzed through the lines and be done with it,” Jimmy Kimmel Live writes on their YouTube page. “But Joseph memorized the entire David After Dentist video – for no reason. We didn’t ask him to and most of it wasn’t in the script. This was shot without any assistance from cue cards, he wasn’t watching along with the video to get the timing right, and somehow he managed to duplicate the video of this kid coming home from the dentist perfectly.”

The fact that JGL was able to nail the timing and dialogue perfectly is pretty impressive, and makes us wonder how much time he has on his hands (no offense).
