After hopeful comments from Vince Gilligan, it’s official: Jonathan Banks has been cast in the Breaking Bad spinoff Better Call Saul.

Banks will reprise his role as Mike Ehrmantraut, who died during season 5 of AMC’s Breaking Bad. His role began at the end of the second season. He will be a series regular according to Deadline, meaning he should be appearing in every episode.

Mike served as Saul’s private investigator during Breaking Bad, and it’s safe to assume he’ll have a similar position on Saul.

Better Call Saul is expected to premiere in November on AMC. All episodes will be available on Netflix immediately after the season comes to a close.

The synopsis for the new show says Saul “tells the story of mall-based super lawyer Saul Goodman in the years before he became Walter White’s attorney. From parking tickets to mass murder, from slip-and-fall to bond fraud, Saul handles it all.”

Both Bryan Cranston and Aaron Paul have expressed their interest in joining the new spinoff, but we’ll have to wait and see what kind of involvement they’ll have – if any. Giancarlo Esposito (Gus) has also said he’s interested in the show. Right now, Saul and Mike are the only two characters who are attached.

It’s safe to assume many new characters will be introduced to fill Saul’s world.

We’re thrilled to see Banks returning to the Breaking Bad world and look forward to some great scenes with the bad-ass character.

Thanks to Deadline for the news.
