Warner Bros., just revealed that another Joker movie is officially in the works!

Yesterday we told you that Warners’ DC Entertainment was officially moving forward with a stand alone Joker movie. Now it looks as though that’s not the only Joker-centric film fans can expect to hit the big screen in the future.

According to Variety, Warner Bros. is currently in the process of developing a tentpole movie centered around the Gotham City villain and his love interest, Harley Quinn.

Unlike the standalone Joker origin story we told you about yesterday, this newly announced project is set to star Jared Leto and Margot Robbie, who would be reprising their roles as the villainous duo from Suicide Squad.

In addition Leto and Robbie, This Is Us directors and executive producers Glenn Ficarra and John Requa are also rumored to be in final negotiations to direct the newly announced Joker and Harley Quinn movie.

News of not one, but two Joker films getting the green light has left even the biggest Batman fans scratching their heads in puzzlement.

Given the popularity of Harley Quinn and the Joker, we’re not surprised that WB is looking to expand their story and give them their own film. And as interesting as yesterday’s news of a Joker origin story was, today’s announcement begs the obvious question: is there really a need to green light two Joker films?

Regardless of whether or not they’ll exist in separate universes, that definitely sounds like overkill. Even so, it looks like we’ll be getting both films whether we want them or not.
