Legendary film composer John Williams helped open Universal Hollywood’s Wizarding World of Harry Potter with a gorgeous performance Tuesday night.

Following a few speeches from NBC Universal and Warner Brothers brass, Williams conducted the Los Angeles Philharmonic through several iconic scores from the Harry Potter movies including “Harry’s Wondrous World” and “Hedwig’s Theme.” The music was in sync with a show being projected onto Hogwarts Castle, offering very impressive visuals including tributes to each of the four Hogwarts Houses. This show was really good, but unfortunately it was a one-time-only event. I can’t help but hope that Universal considers putting this little shindig on regularly for guests (Minus John Williams, of course) during the summer when the park stays open later. Potter fanatics would lose their minds if they got to see this combination of fireworks and special effects on a nightly basis.

Movie stars Tom Felton (Draco Malfoy), Evanna Lynch (Luna Lovegood), Warwick Davis (Flitwick / Griphook), and James and Oliver Phelps (the Weasley twins) were also present during the Grand Opening but did not speak.

Wizarding World Hollywood opens to the public Thursday, April 7. Just before the grand opening event began Tuesday evening, Universal announced that tickets were sold out for opening day. It’s the first time that Universal Hollywood has ever had to stop selling tickets due to hitting capacity.

“We have been getting ready for this exciting day for the past five years and share the exhilaration with those guests who’ve made April 7th a sell-out day,” said Larry Kurzweil, President, Universal Studios Hollywood in a statement. “This incredible consumer demand speaks largely to the arrival of ‘The Wizarding World of Harry Potter,’ and the dramatic 75 percent transformation of Universal Studios Hollywood into an entirely new destination.”
