John Krasinski is reportedly teaming up with Ryan Reynolds for a new project that Krasinski is set to write, direct, and star in.

John Krasinski is reported to be writing a new fantasy comedy that he will also produce, direct, and star in called Imaginary Friends. And according to reports, the movie will also star Deadpool himself, Ryan Reynolds.

The Hollywood Reporter explains that the comedy was in the midst of an intense bidding war with Sony and Lionsgate proving to be big players in acquiring the film. However, it seems that Paramount is ultimately going to win the Krasinski project.

Of course, the deal is still being finalized, so negotiations are ongoing. However, this sounds like it will be a pretty giant project for Paramount and John Krasinski.

Imaginary Friends will be the story of a man who can see and talk with everyone’s imaginary friends. Ultimately, he ends up finding and befriending many a discarded or forgotten imaginary friend.

However, because these imaginary friends can often lack love and friendship, it is easy for them to become evil and wreak havoc on the world. It is up to this man to save the world from these evil imaginary friends.

While it’s not clear what role Krasinski will play in the movie, THR is reporting that Ryan Reynolds has been tapped to play the Doctor Dolittle-like character. And quite frankly, we can’t think of anyone we’d trust more to save us all from evil, imaginary creatures.

Both John Krasinski and Ryan Reynolds are having a pretty successful year. Not only did Krasinski’s directorial debut A Quiet Place make huge waves at the box office, but he was given a sequel to the film, which is currently in post-production at Paramount.

Reynolds, meanwhile, just sold a comedic, musical version of A Christmas Carol that will star the Deadpool actor alongside Will Ferrell. He is also starring in Michael Bay’s upcoming movie 6 Underground.

It’s definitely exciting to see these two come together for a project, and we are pretty intrigued by this fun and dare we say imaginative concept. We will keep you posted as more news breaks from this exciting new movie.
