Amazon has given a full-season order to Jack Ryan starring The Office‘s John Krasinski.

John Krasinski, husband of Emily Blunt, is getting his own Amazon Prime series.

The action show will be quite a turn for Krasinski, who — despite his impressive recent turn in 13 Hours — is still best known for his dry comedic timing as Jim Halpert.

Jack Ryan is based on Tom Clancy’s bestselling novels of the same name, with Carlton Cuse and Graham Roland helming the adaptation series.

The project entered development with Krasinski attached in the spring, and now, Amazon has officially given the go-ahead for a 10-episode first season.

The Amazon series is set to reinvent the Clancy character, following a younger Jack Ryan (Krasinski) in a modern-day setting.

Variety describes Jack as, “an up-and-coming CIA analyst, who is thrust into a dangerous field assignment for the first time. He uncovers a pattern in terrorist communication that launches him into the center of a dangerous gambit with a new breed of terrorism that threatens destruction on a global scale.”

John Krasinski is the fifth actor to take up the mantle of Jack Ryan. The role has previously belonged to Alec Baldwin (The Hunt for Red October), Harrison Ford (Patriot Games and Clear and Present Danger), Ben Affleck (The Sum of All Fears), and Chris Pine (Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit).

The Jack Ryan TV series is produced by Paramount TV and Skydance, and does not yet have a release date. We’ll keep you posted as we learn more.
