John Green’s Looking For Alaska is officially heading to the small screen!

According to Deadline, Hulu is in the process of finalizing a deal that would turn John Green’s beloved Looking For Alaska into a television series.

The current plan is to adapt the young adult novel into an eight-episode limited series produced by Paramount Television.

Josh Schwartz, whose past credits include the cult coming-of-age teen-soap The O.C, wrote the pilot for the upcoming limited series and will work as showrunner and executive producer on the show.

Author John Green will also serve as executive producer on Hulu’s upcoming Looking For Alaska series along with Jessica Tuchinsky, Mark Waters, and Marty Bowen.

The upcoming project marks Schwartz’s second series with Hulu. Currently, he also serves as showrunner for Marvel’s Runaways.

Given Schwartz’ penchant for bringing coming-of-age stories to life, it sounds like he’ll be the perfect fit to tackle Green’s novel.

Published in 2006, Looking For Alaska centers on Miles “Pudge” Halter, and details his time at Culver Creek Boarding School, and more importantly, his fateful run-in with the unforgettable Alaska Young.

More importantly, the news that Hulu is officially bringing one of Green’s most popular novels to life is definitely cause for celebration.

As fans of the author know all too well, while the book has been optioned before, previous attempts to bring Looking For Alaska to life haven’t been successful.

With Hulu on board, we’re hoping that things will be different this time around!

There’s no word yet on when we can expect the Looking For Alaska limited series to hit Hulu, but we’ll be keeping our eyes peeled for more news as the series moves further and further into production!
