Star Trek Beyond actor John Cho is hitting the small screen with Connoisseur, which will put him up against the most dangerous criminals in the country.

Looks like everyone is turning to a life of crime these days.

Variety has announced that Cho will be on our television screens once again when he joins USA Network’s Connoisseur.

Cho will play Clay Park, “a brilliant con artist who dupes the wealthiest, most powerful people in the country into paying millions for fake wine, but his hustle forces him into a deadly bargain with an organized crime syndicate, puts him in the cross-hairs of the FBI, and unearths the details of a tragedy that fractured his family years ago in Korea.”

Gary Lundy originally conceptualized the idea and will be taking up the task of writing for the show. Ben Watkins (Hand of God) and Cho will executive produce alongside Lundy. Interestingly, this will be Cho’s first time having a hand in the production side of one of his projects.

Aside from Star Trek, Cho is known for the Harold & Kumar series, as well as American Beauty. He’s been on television before, namely with Go On and Sleepy Hollow, in which he’s had some recurring roles.

Cho also starred in Selfie alongside Karen Gillan, though the half-hour comedy was cancelled halfway through by ABC and allowed to finish out its second half on Hulu.

Connoisseur sounds like a promising role for Cho, and I hope that not only he can show off his dramatic side with such high stakes, but that he can continue to perfect his comedic timing.

There’s no word yet on when Connoisseur could air, as USA has only just bought a script for the show. If all goes according to plan, however, hopefully we can see it among the new shows premiering next Fall.
