Kathryn Bigelow’s new film about the Detroit Riots features John Boyega, John Krasinski and Anthony Mackie. Watch the first trailer now!

The 1967 Detroit riots was one of the most devastating, pointedly political uprisings in recent American history, and Kathryn Bigelow’s upcoming drama, simply titled Detroit, is poised to dive into the minds of the people at the heart of the unrest.

In the first trailer we see John Boyega, who plays a policeman, attempt to help control a situation that is quickly spinning out of control. We also get to meet a group of central figures, including the characters or Anthony Mackie, Hannah Murray and Will Poulter, who are all guests at a party but become targets for the armed police forces.

Detroit is set to debut on August 4, 2017.
